A zombie (Haitian French: zombi) is a mythological undead corporeal creature created through the reanimation of a corpse. In Haitian folklore, voodoo is used to reanimate the dead whereas modern methods depicted in horror and fantasy genre works do not involve magic but rather science fictional methods such as carriers, radiation, mental diseases, vectors, pathogens, parasites, scientific accidents, etc. The recent outbreak of covid-19 reveals that there is a deep fear of getting infected and losing control, which is the root of the zombie horror.
